One of my favorite parts of any engagement session, or wedding day photography is snapping photos of the engagement ring. The ring symbolizes so much. It’s the ultimate symbol of the love that a couple feels for each other. Plus, they are sparkly and so much fun to photograph. And as a St. Louis wedding photographer, this is one of my favorite subjects.
This engagement ring was snapped on a beautiful spring day, right around Easter. The dogwood tree was in full bloom, so I thought it was the ideal location to place the ring. Delicate, light, sweet and full of Easter joy and springtime loveliness.
This shot was taken using a Macro Lens on a pink dogwood flower. I love how the pink petals make the sapphire blue of the ring pop out. All the colors compliment each other, and just offer a lovely ring shot. This was from one of my first engagement sessions, and I still love the photograph to this day.
I think placing rings on flowers is just so sweet and lovely, especially for a casual wedding. I love to bring out the pinks and greens in flower blossoms and stems, and I think the below photo is a prime example of my ethereal style.
The below image is a little different than the above. For one, it’s not on a flower. The engagement ring is dangling from a tree, a tree with baby pinecones. This is a fun engagement ring shot that was difficult to take, because the wind kept knocking the ring off the tree. But when I was finally able to capture the ring the way I envisioned it, it was just a wonderful experience.
