It’s been an amazing start of the year! With over 15 weddings booked for 2016, I have been a busy bee! I am behind on blogging my recent photo sessions, but with the start of wedding season, I’ll do my best to post more!
I am so excited to share with you Lindsey and Danny’s engagement session at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park! I am absolutely in love with these photos. The lighting was just perfect, and I couldn’t have asked for a better setting. Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is gorgeous in the spring. The sun was shining with clear, blue skies, and cherry blossoms were in bloom. We rented a red bicycle from the Farmer’s Market next door, and the results were just amazing!
There was a big event going on at the park that Saturday morning, which was worrisome at first, but we were able to find some great spots to shoot our photos! It went so well, and I’m so pleased to share with you these gorgeous photos!
Lindsey had originally contacted me to shoot their October wedding, but unfortunately, I was already booked on that date! (I am so bummed about this!) Thankfully, she decided to hire me to take her engagement photos (yay!). She decided on the location, since it offered us a little bit of the urban feel (downtown Nashville is only a few miles away), in addition to being a park.
Their engagement session started on a gorgeous April morning. When I first met Lindsey and Danny, I knew right away what a perfect pair they are. She’s gorgeous and reminds me of Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, with her beauty, grace and charm. Danny is laid-back and sweet, and you can tell right away he will do anything to make Lindsey happy.
Lindsey wore a gorgeous tulle skirt and matching cream high heels. So stylish and it made for a stunning engagement session. Have I mentioned how much fun tulle skirts are? Everyone should wear one at their engagement session! 🙂
Enjoy this gorgeous Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park engagement session!
I am obsessed with taking little details, like how sweetly Danny is holding his love’s hands!
I love capturing fond gazes! Danny absolutely adores Lindsey!
When you wear a tulle skirt to your Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park engagement session, you must twirl under the shade of green trees!
You can see all the people at the park that morning!
I loved the view of the capitol in the background. I shoot with a shallow depth of field, so that my focus is always on my couple! (In this case, there were tents and lots of people walking around in the background, so the shallow depth of field was very helpful in capturing these romantic moments. Photographer friends, I shot at f/1.4.)
Lindsey’s ring is stunning, and Danny picked it out all by himself. Didn’t he do a wonderful job? It is gorgeous!
Cherry blossoms were in bloom (at least, I think they are cherry blossoms). They made for beautiful spring portraits.
At the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, there is an area with a huge globe. We found Tennessee on the map!
When there’s a huge globe covered in water, you must try to push it! I encourage all my couples to do fun things at our engagement session. It helps relax everyone, and plus, it makes the session loads of fun! I’m a photojournalistic wedding photographer, and I love capturing these little moments as well during an engagement session.
When Danny was away renting a bike, Lindsey and I took a few minutes to take portraits of her. She twirled and played with her gorgeous tulle skirt. Have I mentioned how much I love tulle skirts? They make for darling photos!
Danny arrives with the red bicycle, and more gorgeous shots ensue!
Lindsey and Danny are so much fun!
These are one of my favorite shots, with Danny picking up his bride-to-be, and her skirts rustling in the wind!
Look at that beautiful tulle skirt!
Close to the end of our session, Lindsey wanted to climb a tree!
Prince Charming helped his Cinderella back into her shoes. The shoe fits!
Just look at that gorgeous ring!
We ended the engagement session with their vintage 1968 Camaro Convertible.
This Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park Engagement Session was so much fun! Congratulations to Lindsey and Danny on their upcoming wedding! I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
